Age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Bill was born on October 29, 1931, in Baxter, Tennessee, to Hop T. Lee and Addie C. (Mills) Brewington.

Howard proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Wilma Jean (Lynn), on May 29, 1952. They shared 63 wonderful years together in the home they built, until her passing in 2015. The couple loved traveling across the U.S. and Canada in their motorhome, visiting every state except Hawaii. They even dared to take all five of their grandchildren on long camping adventures.

Bill loved fishing and hunting, but his greatest passion was playing country western, bluegrass, and southern gospel music. He played in several bands and was very active in his church. After retiring from General Motors' Hydramatic plant with 32 years of service, he worked as a roofer until his wife's retirement. Together, they spent winters in Lakeland, Florida.

Bill is survived by his children: Brenda Brewington, Sheila (Lynn) Blank, and Steve (Susan) Brewington; his grandchildren: Kris (Crystal) Blank, Leslie (Mike) Prince, Lisa (Jeremy) Bentley, Matt Brewington, and Lacey (Jordan) Guill; great-grandchildren: Faith, Jacob, Lyla, Evan, Wes, and one on the way; his siblings: Donna Shanks and Roy Brewington; brother-in-law, Jimmie Alcorn; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years; his parents; brothers: Grover, Aaron, Robert Clifton (infant), and J.D. Brewington (infant); and sisters; Sue and Mae.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, 12 Noon (instate 11 am) at Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at Union-Udell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Stark Funeral Professionals on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 5-8 pm.
