Wanda Fay Jurkiewicz

June 26, 1939 – March 15, 2025

Wanda Fay Jurkiewicz, age 85, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home on March 15, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She has gone home to be with the Lord.

Wanda was born on June 26, 1939, in Cookeville, Tennessee, to Daniel and Mayme Burgess. She spent most of her life in Ypsilanti Township, Michigan, where she built a loving home with her husband, Joseph Jurkiewicz, whom she married on June 16, 1958 in Mount Clemens, Michigan.

A devoted homemaker, Wanda found joy in capturing precious moments through photography and spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was a woman of deep faith and cherished being part of her church community.

Wanda is survived by her children, Linda (Michael) Cherne, Dennis (Janie) Jurkiewicz, and John Jurkiewicz; grandchildren Eric (Judy) Miller, Ashley (Robert) Hayes, Adam (Maggie) Cherne, and Corrine (Steve) Lineberger; and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Joyce (Jack) Stewart, brothers Henry (Judy) Burgess, and Paul Burgess, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Jurkiewicz and her parents, Daniel and Mayme Burgess.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a funeral service at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery.
