Hughes, Vicki Sue

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 65, passed away Monday, October 21, 2024 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. She was born August 29, 1959 in Detroit, MI, the adopted daughter of Merle and Nancy (McCoy) Hughes.

Vicki grew up in Ypsilanti where she attended Holmes Elementary, Fletcher Elementary, West Junior High and Ypsilanti High, graduating in 1977. She furthered her education at Great Lakes Bible College, Baker College, Oakland Community College and Oakland University. Vicki enjoyed a successful career as a therapist for 15 years, helping many in the recovery community. She was also a certified interpreter for the deaf.

Vicki was a member of The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls (IORG), Ypsilanti Church of Christ and many Christian choirs throughout her life.

Vicki is survived by her children Darwin "Jr" (Kristina) King, Angela (John) Riley and Dustin Stroud (Katrina Suarez); grandchildren Danielle Boyer, Samantha Boyer, Veronica Boyer, Piper Boyer Emmalee Stroud and Chloe Woolwine; partner Jeffery Slag, best friends Darlene Brandow and David Moore; siblings Corbin Gray and Carol Smith; niece Mariah Mills and great-niece Paisley Mills.

She was preceded in death by her son Scott Elwell, sister Brenda Vanover and brother Gary Mills.
