Terry Lynn Johnson Garrett of Ypsilanti, MI, age 70, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 2, 2024.

Terry was born May 22,1953 in Beefhide, KY to James Palmer and Maxie Elkins Johnson. On June 24, 1972, Terry was married to the love of her life, Bill Garrett of Ypsilanti. The first 24 years of her career were at General Motors, Willow Run Plant. From there she was co-founder of Southern Style Cleaning which she ran for 32 years, up until the time of her diagnosis.

Terry left a huge impact on all those that she met. She will be remembered for her love of the Lord. She faithfully served the Lord and will be remembered by many for Miss Terry's Sunday school class at First Free Will Baptist Church.

Besides her beloved husband, Bill, she is survived by her son, Todd (Christie) Garrett. Two granddaughters, Lexie Garrett and Delaney Garrett. Brothers, Gary (Barbara) Johnson, Ricky (Dixie) Johnson, Ronnie Johnson, Johnny (Terri) Johnson and Jamie Johnson. Sister Wilma Potter and sister-in-law Elaine Johnson. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

She has been reunited with her cherished daughter, Heather Garrett who went to be with the Lord in 2022 and a precious infant, Baby Boy Garrett. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wade Johnson, Dannie Bentley, Franklin Johnson, JP Johnson and Judy White.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, April 6, 2024 at First Free Will Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10 am (1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti). Officiating the service will be Rev. Walker Harris and Rev. Scott Caudill. The family will receive friends 3-8 pm Friday, April 5, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). Terry will be laid to rest in Denton Cemetery, Van Buren Township.
