Steven Edsel Fornwalt was born July 30, 1959 to Berma Jean (Haynes) Fornwalt and Herschel Edsel Fornwalt. He passed away unexpectedly Monday, April 17, 2023 at the age of 63. He was the youngest of six siblings. He has two surviving sisters; Glenda Windels-Fornwalt and Cheryl Meixner. His siblings Kenneth Fornwalt, Debra Fornwalt, and Daryl Fornwalt preceded him in death.

Steven was a lifelong resident of Ypsilanti, MI. Steven was an employee of the University of Michigan Hospital for 34 years in which he was a meticulous worker in environmental health services. He was looking forward to retirement in the coming months.

He had a kind spirit in which he was always trying to help others who were less fortunate than he was. He would often make baskets for the homeless shelters. He had an adoration for animals, and was known to care for and feed strays. His bubbly demeanor and humor made him someone with whom people enjoyed spending time. He enjoyed dancing and relishing life to the fullest. His family and friends will dearly miss him.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 1-3 pm followed by a memorial service at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). Pastor Gordon Moore will officiate.
