Simany, Somchay Sone

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 57, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022. He was born January 10, 1965 in Vientiane, Laos, the son of Chouy and Thongsy (Sengchan) Simany.

Somchay, affectionately known as "Shorty" or "Short Man," enjoyed fishing, playing Sepak Takraw and soccer, and watching YouTube videos of life in Laos/Thailand. He liked to sing and listen to music. He married Sisouvanh Sysaeng in December 1993 and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Somchay is survived by his children Somchay Walker, Santisouk Sonny (JoAnn Marie) Simany, Souriyanh Danny Simany and Sengmany Jimmy (Roxana Elizabeth Garcia) Simany; siblings Souksavanh (Khao Keomany) Simany and Khamla (Oudone Khotmanivong) Simany-Phimmasene; nephews Tylo Keomany, Jake Keomany and Ben Khotmanivong; and nieces Lalynn Keomany, Lydia Keomany and Anna Khotmanivong.

A funeral service will be held 12 pm Friday, April 15, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). The family will receive friends at the funeral home 3-8 pm Thursday, April 14, 2022. Buddhist funeral rites will take place.
