Shirley J. Bellers, of Ypsilanti Township, went to meet her Lord and Savior Friday, September 9, 2022 at her home. She was 86 years old.

Shirley was born October 14, 1935 in Swannanoa, NC to Archie and Gevena Brigman, the third of seven children. She moved to Michigan as a teenager where she graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. Roosevelt High School was located in Ypsilanti and is now part of the Eastern Michigan University Campus.

She married Bobby Bellers March 31, 1956 in Ypsilanti. She worked as a cashier for Meijer in both Ypsilanti and Canton for 36 years. Many customers loved Shirley and her warm and vibrant nature. Many would come back to visit her often. Shirley was a faithful servant of God and attended the Willow Run Church of God for many years where she also taught children in Sunday School. She drew strength from her faith and studied the Bible often.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Martha Lou Brigman and Yvonne Mills; and her brother Clifford Brigman.

Shirley is survived by her husband Bobby Bellers, her daughter Bobbie Lynn and husband Art Cartes, her son Robert, her sisters Joyce (Ivan) Spires, Joan (George) Richey, Jean Richey, and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor David Richey of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti. Visitation will be held 5-8 pm Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the funeral home.
