Whitten, Sheryl Lynn

Sumpter Township, MI

Age 68, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at Villa at Parkridge in Ypsilanti, MI. She was born April 5, 1956 in Ypsilanti, the daughter of Frank and Dorothy (Phillips) Abelson.

Sheryl enjoyed crafting and making things with wood and paint. She loved being outdoors, whether it was venturing to the countryside or visiting lakes and parks. She treasured time spent with family and being with her nieces and nephews. Over the years, Sheryl worked at Ford Motor Company, Cracker Barrel and Sam's Club.

Sheryl is survived by her siblings Laura Abelson and Terry Abelson; son CJ Hicks, nieces and nephews Valerie Abelson, Christopher Abelson, Jeremie Abelson, Jayvon Robinson, Nova Robinson, Braylon Abelson, Brendon Abelson, Isaac Abelson, Ryder Abelson, Victoria Roberts, Alex Thompson and Joel Thompson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Dorothy Abelson, sister Cindy Abelson and brother Thomas Abelson.

The family has chosen simple cremation.
