Sarah Lou Hermosillo, age 85, of Van Buren Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025. Born on July 22, 1940, in New Madrid, Missouri, she was the beloved daughter of Odis and Fay (Winter) Moss.

Sarah's life was marked by resilience, warmth, and a deep commitment to family and community. She spent the majority of her life in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and called Van Buren Township home for the past 40 years. On May 9, 1959, she married the love of her life, Fernando Hermosillo, at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church. Together, they shared 66 beautiful years of marriage.

Throughout her career, Sarah worked in several small automotive industries in Ypsilanti, as well as at Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corporation. Her dedication extended beyond the workplace—she volunteered at a hospital in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, and later worked at Kmart before embracing her most cherished role as a full-time grandmother.

Sarah was a lifelong learner and a woman of many talents. She completed the IBM keypunching program in the 1970s, earned her GED at age 38 from Willow Run High School, and received a one-year certificate from Washtenaw Community College at age 51. Her curiosity and love of learning never waned.

She found joy in puzzling—crosswords and jigsaws alike—estate sales, collecting Depression-era glass, reading, crocheting, sewing, and helping others from a place of genuine compassion. Her home was a haven, always open with a seat at the table for everyone. Sarah was the cornerstone of her family, a nurturing soul whose love radiated to all who knew her.

Sarah is survived by her devoted husband Fernando Hermosillo; daughters Alesia Hermosillo-DeBoer (Mike) and Carmen Duda (Ken); grandchildren Sara Taylor (Ryan), Ryan Duda, Michael Hermosillo-DeBoer (Trisha), and Zachary Hermosillo-DeBoer (Rachel); and a great-granddaughter expected in February 2026.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Crystal Danita Hermosillo; her parents Odis and Fay Moss; and siblings Shirley Grammer, Robert Moss, Gene Moss (Barbara Gail Holder), Betty Gray (Maynard Gray), and James Moss.

Cremation rites have taken place. A celebration of Sarah's life will be held at a later date, and her final resting place will be at St. John The Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Ypsilanti.

Sarah's legacy of love, learning, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
