Sara's Journey……

Sara Francis Patterson was born on August 21, 1938, in Macon, Georgia to the union of the late J.B. and Gertrude Henderson. From this union were four sons, the late Billy, Freddie, Ephrien, J.B. (Lucy) and one daughter, Sara, known affectionately as Baby Girl. Sara was united in marriage to the late Kenneth Young on August 28, 1960. Kenneth affectionately called her Babes. From this union, were her three children, Valerie, Terri (Timothy) and David. At the age of seventy, Sara and the late Deacon Cecil Patterson married.

As a mother of a son who has a mental disability, Sara developed a passion for helping children with similar disabilities. This led her to work for the Detroit Public School System for 20 years as a Special Education Assistant. While managing the roles of a wife and mother, Sara helped to raise her five grandchildren. In the year 2002, Sara moved from Detroit to Ypsilanti to live with her daughter Terri and son-in-law Tim and their three children. During this time, she enjoyed family vacations, family movie nights, going on walks, attending church, and attending the Ypsilanti Township Community Center. The Center is where she met her late husband of nine years, Cecil Patterson.

Sara accepted Christ at an early age. Upon moving to Ypsilanti, she joined New Creed Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Johnny J Swanson, Jr. Sara later joined Christian Love Fellowship Ministries International under the leadership of the late Apostol Robert A Hill.

On April 12, 2023, at 12:25 a.m., Sara Patterson departed this life on earth to be present with the Lord. "Well done servant, Well Done." No more Dementia.

Sara leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children Valerie, Terri, and David. Nieces Andrea, Andriette, Evette, Martha (Erwin), Mia (Keith), LaTiffany, and Deanna. Nephews Alvin (Ida), Dexter, Brandon, Jerry, Ronnie (Cheryl), Michael, and James. Grandchildren Jonathan, Jarell, Jamal, Jamar, Shanae, Timothy Jr, Tyler, and Tara. Great grandchildren LeTrell, Jamal Jr, Ivory, and Juan Jr, as well as a host of other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, April 21, 2023 at Christian Love Fellowship Ministries International (1601 Stamford Road, Ypsilanti). Family hour will begin at 10 am.
