Ruth Wackus
December 13, 1938 – August 18, 2025

Ruth Wackus, 86, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at her son's home in Jackson, Michigan. Born December 13, 1938, in Charleston, West Virginia, Ruth was the daughter of Charles and Mae (Lyons) Caincross. She moved to Ypsilanti in the late 1960s, where she raised her family and worked for General Motors for 30 years.

Ruth was devoted to her family and spent much of her life helping care for others. She loved to stay active — whether through family gatherings, bowling in her league in Chelsea, or cheering on the University of Michigan. Her love for the Wolverines was unwavering, win or lose.

She is survived by her children, Don (Teresa) Wackus of Jackson and Paula Sue Wackus of Mississippi; five grandchildren: Ethen and Zachary Winright, Heather Lamerand, Sarah (Justin) Bojowski, and Fayth Wackus; and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings: Noah, Sam, Louis, and Paul David Caincross; Barbara Drake, Sue Bellis, and Rachel (Bob) Cirrilo; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Max and Hugh Caincross.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, August 22, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 10 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-8 pm Thursday, August 21, 2025. Ruth will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery, Ypsilanti.
