Walker, Ruby Nell

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 71, went home to be with the Lord Monday, August 29, 2022 at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, MI. She was born June 23, 1951 in Socorro, NM, the daughter of Robert and Alta Faye (Lehew) Moore.

Ruby married Pastor Jimmy C. Walker October 14, 1972 in Grants, NM, and he survives. She worked for the Ypsilanti Township Clerk's Office for 21 years prior to her retirement in December, 2021.

Ruby enjoyed crocheting, sewing, singing and playing the piano. She was an active member of Lighthouse Baptist Temple in Ypsilanti. Ruby was a virtuous woman, who lovingly cared for her family, and served her Savior. (Proverbs 31) .

In addition to her husband, Ruby is survived by her daughters Jennifer (Shaun) Painter, Christa (Tony) Duty and Lori (Matt) Antkoviak; grandchildren Kayla Duty, Rebekah Duty, Joshua Duty, Kaitlyn Painter, Emily Duty, Aubree Painter, Cecilia Antkoviak, Chelsea Painter, Samuel Antkoviak and Sophia Antkoviak; mother Alta Faye Moore; siblings Mary Jo Essinger, Allen (Donna) Moore and Joyce (Dave) Hailey; and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Moore.

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, September 2, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street). A funeral service will be held 1 pm Saturday, September 3, 2022 at Antioch Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 12 pm (6538 Rawsonville Road, Belleville). Pastor Jimmy C. Walker will officiate. Ruby will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Temple. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
