Meis, Ruby Lillian

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 93, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023 in Pittsfield Township, MI. She was born September 1, 1929 in Dearborn, MI, the daughter of Henry John and Goldie Henton Meis.

Ruby was a Professor in Human, Environmental, and Consumer Resources at Eastern Michigan University for 30 years, until her retirement in 1994. She earned her B.S. from Central Michigan University, M.S. from University of Michigan, and Ed.D. from Penn State University. Ruby was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti, Delta Kappa Gamma and Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She married Stephen Brewer June 26, 1982 and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Ruby is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Roney H. Meis, Russell Meis, Reta Meis, Roye Meis, and Rella Meis.

A memorial service will be held 3 pm Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 pm until time of service.
