Age 83, passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. She was born April 28, 1940 in Tuscaloosa, AL, the daughter of Jimmie and Bessie (Collins) Hinton.

Ruby enjoyed reading and playing computer games. She was an avid churchgoer and belonged to Strong Tower Ministries. She was a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. Ruby loved her family dearly and treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and siblings.

Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Young Barton Jr., children Yolanda Whitaker, Karen (Michael) Lewis, Shawn (Lisa) Barton, Patrick Edwards and Tonja (Jermaine) Edwards-White; 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and siblings Wilda Whitfield, Tinnie (Fern) Bryant and Margaret Busch.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Birder Harris, Ocie Carter, Jimmie Hinton, and Annie Meadows; daughter Andrea McKinley and grandson Tarius Edwards.

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, March 15, 2024 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, February 16, 2024 at Christian Love Fellowship Ministries International (1601 Stamford Road, Ypsilanti) with family hour beginning at 10 am. Ruby will be entombed in United Memorial Gardens, Superior Township.
