Roy Paul Cischke, age 91, passed away at home on June 4, 2025, with his devoted wife and family by his side.

Roy was born on June 9, 1933, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan, to Roy Charles Cischke and Mamie Sophia Zoellner. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Ypsilanti, MI in 1952. Roy met the love of his life, Nancy Jane Miles, in 1949 in Milan, MI. They were married 71 years ago on June 19, 1953, in Nashua, New Hampshire while Roy was stationed in the Army. After his military service, he graduated from Electronic Institute & worked as an electronic technician for Burroughs/Unisys Corporation. In 1959, he and Nancy moved to Ypsilanti, MI after building a home in the Gault Village neighborhood, where they raised their eight children.

Besides his love of helping his children with any and all home projects, he loved researching and creating the family tree. He also had a love for model trains- especially Lionel trains- and spent many hours designing and building detailed miniature railroad layouts. Roy enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and maintaining a well-kept yard. He was also a collector. In addition to his many trains, he collected guns and enjoyed target shooting. He also collected coins, stamps, and has an amazingly large Pez dispenser collection.

Roy is survived by his beloved wife Nancy of 71 years and their eight children: Deborah (James) Williams, Roy Cischke, Steven Cischke, Nancy (Aaron) Lyles, Paul (Emelyn) Cischke, James (Terri) Cischke, John (Jovie) Cischke, and Lisa Krull. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren: James, Jason, Erica, Michael, Aaron, Andrew, Samantha, Adam, Alex, Denver, Tyler, Nikki, Robert, Grant, Kevin, Kyle, Kandi, Kassi, Kavn, Kolt and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lee Cischke, his daughter-in-law Jeanne Cischke, and his great-granddaughter Ellie Rose.

Visitation will be held at Stark Funeral Professionals in Ypsilanti, MI, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will take place at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor.

Roy will be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife and family, his quiet strength, the values he instilled in those who knew him, his sense of humor and his ingeniousness in being able to fix and figure anything out. He will be missed beyond measure and loved forever.
