Ronald David Smith "Shooter", age 86, passed away peacefully in Pinckney, Michigan on February 5, 2025. Several of his closest family members were at his bedside when he passed.

Born on July 25, 1938 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, he was the son of Andy and Marguerite Smith. Ron was a 1957 graduate of Ypsilanti High School and married his high school sweetheart, Janet Rowe, at First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti on December 6, 1958.

Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, his parents, Andy and Marguerite Smith; and his only sibling, Dick Smith (Connie).

He is survived by his daughter, Cari Laundra (Steve), son Robb Smith (Jacque), five grandchildren - Chelsea Wyse (Tyler), Brittany Melinn (Corey), Andrew, Scott and Morgan Smith; six great grandchildren - Desmond, Griffin, Norah, Julianna, Olivia and Hudson; and many nieces and nephews, including Theresa Hamari (Mark).

Ron and his brother worked at A.F. Smith & Son Electric in Ypsilanti for their grandfather's and father's family owned electrical contractor business. They eventually took ownership of the company before retiring after 35+ years on the job. Robb followed in his father's foot steps and currently works for A.F. Smith Electric. Ron's work ethic on the job and at home was off the charts.  He loved his trade and helping his family and friends with a wide variety of hands on construction related projects.  Everybody knew if it needed fixing, "Shooter" was the man for the job.

Ron and Janet lived a very busy and vibrant life and raised two beautiful children together. They were extremely close with numerous Ypsilanti High School classmates and other acquaintances, many of which bought cottages on Silver Lake back in the 60's and 70's. This group of extended family spent countless hours on the water, which included boating, skiing and playing cards together. They would frequently plan snowmobiling, golf, and cruise vacations and regularly attended the Ypsilanti Dance Club events.  Ron and Janet enjoyed many fine years at their fall/winter home at Swiss Village in Winter Haven, Florida.

Ron was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of the Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club but mostly took pride in being a Michigan fan, always cheering them on with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing golf, tailgating in Ann Arbor and attending football and basketball games.

Ron's family knows he is finally home, reunited with his loving wife after 11 years and all others who passed before him. He missed them all dearly.

Memorial visitation for Ron Smith will be held at Stark Funeral Professionals in Ypsilanti on Monday, February 10, from 5-7pm. A memorial service will take place at the First United Methodist Church of Ypsilanti on Tuesday, February 11, at 11am.

In leiu of flowers, memorial donations on Ron's behalf can be made to Hospice of St. Croix or the Ypsilanti Kiwanis Club.
