Age 78, made her transition at home surrounded by family February 20, 2025. She was born January 28, 1947 in Newellton, Louisiana, the daughter of Arthur and Hattie (Banks) Bryant.

Roberta retired from Taubman Medical Library at the University of Michigan in 2015. She attended Bethel AME Church in Ann Arbor. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, watching basketball and shopping. Above all, she treasured spending time with her family.

Roberta is survived by her sons Derrick Phillips and Zarie (Latoya) Phillips; grandchildren Niya Phillips, Layla Phillips and Devin Phillips; and siblings Dorothy Hooks, Hattie Wells, Berteal Jackson, Gloria Matthews and Shirley Bryant.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Hattie Bryant; sisters Maggie Patterson, Edna Bryant, Julia Mae Bryant and Dorethea Alexander; brothers Theodore Bryant and Johnnie Bryant; nephews Michael Bryant, Richard Bryant, James Bryant and Terry Bryant; and niece Shirley Alexander.

The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Friday, February 28, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Bethel AME Church (900 John A. Woods Drive, Ann Arbor) with family hour at 10 am. Rev. Christina M. Davis will office. Roberta will be laid to rest in Arborcrest Cemetery, Ann Arbor.
