Putman, Robert Earl "Bob"

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 79, went home to be with the Lord Monday, July 31, 2023 at Trinity Health Ann Arbor Hospital. He was born August 25, 1943 in Traverse City, MI, the son of Carl and Sara (Cole) Bolling.

Bob served four years as Basic Airman for the United States Air Force from December 6, 1960 until November 10, 1964. He retired from the Teamsters Union Car Hauler for Complete Auto Transit. He was also a retired ordained Minister from Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ypsilanti and owned Peg's Golden Griddle in downtown Ypsilanti from 1979-1986. Bob was a volunteer firefighter for Superior Township and served as a firefighter for Ypsilanti Township. He married Rebecca Ruth Dillman October 23, 1965 and she preceded him in death July 25, 2007.

Bob loved attending bible study and church services every Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. He enjoyed being with friends and family, going out to eat and for coffee, and putting together puzzles. He liked building things, riding his motorcycles, and watching drag races. Bob was very involved with his children and grandchildren, and attended their Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and sporting events. Bob was always helping others in every way he could, and enjoyed looking out for everyone around him.

Bob is survived by his sons Raymond Scott Putman and Roger Tyrone (Jo Ann) Putman; grandchildren Chelsea (Joseph) Varney, Stephanie (Matthew) Winters and Rodney White; great-grandchildren Jacob White, Riley Winters, Tyree Varney and Shayna Varney; sister-in-law Carrie Damen, niece Susan Damen, nephews Brian Damen and Eddie LeMarr; and brothers-in-law Jack (Virginia) Dillman and Les Brock.

In addition to his loving wife of 41 years, he was preceded in death by his parents, aunt Elaine Cole and sister-in-law Opal Brock.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, August 7, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 10 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-8 pm Sunday, August 6, 2023. Bob will be laid to rest in Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor.
