Robert Clyde Arrick Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and lifelong resident of Ypsilanti, passed away and went home to be with his mom and dad on September 14, 2025, at Memory Lane Assisted Living. He was 85 years old.

Born February 28, 1940, Robert was the beloved son of the late Robert Sr. and Charlotte (Ensign) Arrick. On December 12, 1959, he married the love of his life, Darla Re, at Faith Lutheran Church, where he remained a faithful parishioner throughout his life.

Robert served the Ypsilanti Township community with honor and dedication as a firefighter for 27 years, retiring on June 16, 1989. Known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and sense of humor, he made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

He loved the outdoors and spent many joyful days hunting and fishing. A true sports enthusiast, Robert also enjoyed baseball, long walks with his beloved dogs, and sharing laughter and stories with friends and family. He had a special gift for making people smile and always had a kind word or a joke to share.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of nearly 66 years, Darla Arrick; daughters Kim (Mike) Barth, Laura Arrick, and Robin (Pete) Closson; granddaughters Nicole (Matt) Kelley and Ashley (Corey) Briggs; and great-grandsons Jack and Max Cannon. He is also survived by his sisters Janet Beecham, Joyce Smith, Sharon Sizemore, and Mary Swift.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty Ann Arrick.

A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church (1255 E. Forest Avenue, Ypsilanti). Rev. Dr. James Waddell will officiate. Inurnment to follow at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor Township at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Memory Lane Assisted Living (Stoneham House): 8253 Stoneham Drive, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the community he so proudly served.
