Allen, Robert Edward

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 84, went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2024 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He was born May 18, 1940 in Downsville, Louisiana, the son of Ed Allen and Leona (Acree) Allen.

Robert met Emily Gail Newell at North Prospect Baptist Church and they later married there on July 2, 1960. Robert was the owner of AAA Drywall for over 40 years. He enjoyed coaching baseball, attending Detroit Tiger games, fish fries, family reunions and most of all, he loved his family. In Robert's later years he attended Grace Bible Church under Pastor Lawrence La-Follette.

Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Allen and Rick (Wendy) Allen; daughter Jill (Gerry) Sebby; grandchildren, Scott, Stephanie, Katelyn (Tony), Stephen (Michelle), Zachary,  Jonathan, Tricia, Gerry and Andrea; great and great-great grandchildren, Scott Jr., Damien, Matthew, Carter, Eliana, Atalia, Elenora, Daniel, Nadia, Ella, Oliver, Noah, Nala, Macy, Kayden, Abel, Ruby, Theodore, William, Harrison and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emily Gail, parents, brothers Oscar and Royce Allen; sisters Bessie, Juanita and Tea; and granddaughter Meagin.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 9 from 10:30 am until time of service at 11:30 am at North Prospect Baptist Church, 1400 N Prospect Rd, Ypsilanti. Burial will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association .
