Our beloved patriarch, Richard Young, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Pinckney, MI on September 2, 2025.

Born on January 17, 1943, in Detroit, MI, Richard was the son of the late Jack Silas and Virginia Louise (Londke) Young. He was raised in Dearborn and spent his youth helping his grandma on her farm. Many of his favorite memories are of the love, laughter, and mischief that he experienced there. Richard graduated from Edsel Ford High School in 1961. He enjoyed a long and successful career with Ford Motor Company, where he served as Vice President of Distribution for the Caribbean before retiring in 1997 after 35 years dedication.

He loved his career and all of the unique experiences he was afforded through his work. He was able to embrace the beauty of Puerto Rico, Germany, Alaska, and Hawaii, traveling across the United States before settling in Hell, MI and The Villages, FL.

A deep man of faith, Richard attended Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the NRA. He found great peace in nature—especially while hunting, fishing, or simply sitting quietly in the woods or by the lake. This is where he felt closest to God. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time with his neighbors, always staying active and involved in his community.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, JoEtta Young; his children David Alan Young, Bridgett Louise Young, and Jacqueline Louise Young; his grandchildren Elisha (David) Penning, Kelsey (Scott) Brown, Sydney Large, Richard (Angie) Young, Elizabeth (Josiah) Herman, Mark Herman, and Danielle (Brandon) Vegh; great-grandchildren Asher Penning, Elijah Penning, Phoebe Penning, Adalynne Brown, and Nora Young; brother David (Bonnie) Young, sister Linda Madvig, brother Thomas (Tish) Young; and many loving nieces, nephews, and adored friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Robert Young, and his great-grandson, Jonathan Penning.

Visitation will be held 5-8 pm on Friday, September 5, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti). A funeral service will take place 11 am on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Ypsilanti Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Joe Kennedy officiating (7180 S. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti). Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor Township, Michigan.

Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew this great man.
