Richard "Dick" Smith passed away on May 20, 2024 at the age of 88. Dick was born and raised in Ypsilanti. This is also where he and his wife, Constance "Connie" Smith (Mitchell) decided to raise their three children, Mark Smith, Wendy (Smith) Klinge, and Cindy "Rikki" Smith.

He was a co-owner of his family electrical contracting business, A.F. Smith and Son, and contributed to the community through service in the Ypsilanti Jaycees and the Rotary. After retirement, he spent his time getting his boat stuck on Wixom Lake (back when it had water in it), fishing in Canada, and enjoying Florida winters in Ft. Myers Beach (back when it was a beach).

Dick was a hardworking, compassionate man, who loved and supported his family and friends. He loved live, local entertainment and could often be found close to a band, a piano man, or a karaoke night. His family will miss him dearly but find solace in the belief that he is reunited with his wife, and that together, they have found peace.
