Ralph Angelo Carpenter, of Ypsilanti, MI passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 67 in Ann Arbor, MI. He was born in Ypsilanti, MI on December 18, 1956 to his parents, Charles Carpenter and Maggie K. Carpenter.

Ralph was an ambitious hard worker. Over the years he wore many hats. He worked for Ford Motor Co., St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital and Clonlara School, Ann Arbor, MI.

After retiring from the State of Michigan. Ralph perused a career with his true passion, theatre, and became a self-employed educator, drama coach and actor.

A former member of Amistad Community United Church, Ralph was very willing to share how God brought him through so many healing health miracles. He was quick to offer his testimony in a way that listeners could appreciate without being made to feel uncomfortable.

Ralph loved animals, especially his dogs Buster and Whitney. Helping animals by contributing to the Humane Society of Huron Valley gave him a great feeling of satisfaction.

Being a member of both Riverside Arts Center and the Screen Actors Guild gave him an outlet for his many creative endeavors.

He had immersed himself in mastering the acoustic guitar and was active in buying, rehabbing, trading and selling them. He took up the hobby of photography while still in high school and spent many hours in his own darkroom developing film and printing photos.

With his aptitude for the theater, both as a participant and instructing others in the craft. He spent time in Hollywood and had a role in at least one movie. The Hollywood life did not suit him, and he returned to Ypsilanti where he busied himself acting in regional theater and coaching others in the art he loved so much.

He was an audiophile and collected high-end audio equipment, always upgrading components in search of the perfect sound.

Of all these enjoyments, perhaps his greatest love was teaching, especially children. Some of his fondest memories were seeing former students and hearing how they used what he taught them to better their lives.

Ralph Leaves behind his dear Fiancé Cynthia (Cindy) Dillon. Brothers Hayward Carpenter and Charles (Jill) Carpenter, Nieces Briana Carpenter, Kaia Carpenter and Maggie Carpenter, and a host of cousins and friends.

Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of life ceremony will be announced at a later date.
