Matthew R. McDonnell, 55, of Ypsilanti, Michigan passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2022.

Matt was born April 12, 1967 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to Robert L. "Buzz" and Kathleen "Katie" (Riley) McDonnell. He graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1985. Matt was an employee of Ford Motor Company for over 25 years, most recently working as an operator in the Stamping Division at the Rouge Dearborn Plant.

Matt was a devoted family man, avid outdoorsman and life-long U of M Football Fan.

Matt is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert J. and Lois McDonnell and George and Catherine Riley.

In addition to his parents Buzz and Katie, Matt is survived by his brother Andrew (Beverly) McDonnell, sister Kasey (Gordon) Konz, nephews Kyle (Angie) Konz and Max Konz; and niece Sarah (Chris) Staebler. He is also survived by two great-nephews, one great-niece, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins (including special cousin Amy Ichesco) and a host of friends.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1-3 pm on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals, 101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti, MI 48197, followed by a memorial service at the same location. A private burial will take place at a later date.
