Matthew Archie Carpenter-Ward

Age 36, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at his home. Matthew was born May 11,1988 at St Joe's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI.

Matthew was employed by Ford Motor Co. (MAP) in Wayne, MI for the past 4 1/2 years. He was proud to work for the UAW, and enjoyed his job and teammates.

Although life was not always easy for him, you never saw Matthew without a big smile on his face. He never met a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere. He had a very upbeat attitude and could make people laugh with his silly jokes.

Matthew loved going to the movies and hanging out with family, especially with his son, niece and nephews. He also collected Marvel figures, the Hulk was his favorite. Matt was just a big kid at heart.

Matthew had a love for Art of all kinds. He made many friends from different states in the Art & Pinning community that he thought of as his extended family. He would travel to different states to meet new people who shared the same love of Art.

Matthew is survived by his father Patrick Ward, his mother Gwenna (Gary) Adkins, one son Robert Ward-Caddell (and his mother Kayla), one brother Justin (Brittney) Ward, two nephews Justin Ward II and Wixom Ward; one niece Ella Ward, and his best non-human friend Buddy. He is also survived by his Aunt Theresa Carpenter, Aunt Lori (Duane) Hunter, Uncle Chad (Angie) Ward and his paternal grandmother Cheryl (Tom) Mullins, along with many cousins and friends.

Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Archie and Doris Carpenter as well as paternal grandfather Leland Ward.
