Age 87, passed to a better place on Sunday, January 2, 2022. She was born October 28, 1934 in Prestonsburg, KY to Hillard and Maxie (Gibson) Tackett.

A devoted mother and wife who dedicated her life in serving her family. Not only was she a mother to her family but a mother to the neighborhood children, friends, family members and to all she met. Mary never knew a stranger. An excellent cook she could feed an army with a sack of flour, cornmeal, potatoes, and a bushel of beans. Everyone came to Mary's house for a meal; went away with a full belly and a sack of food to take home.

A hard worker, she did anything and everything to make sure her family was taken care of and to provide for those that came to her door. She was one of a kind, everyone loved Mary. Her talents included crocheting, cake decorating, cooking, bookkeeping, crafts, playing baseball with the children, horseshoes. caretaker, and teaching her skills to others.

Mary leaves behind her sons Richard (Debora) and Rodney (Michelle); daughter Rhonda (Eugene) Almond, grandchildren Carey (Marc Juliano), Adam, Bryan Almond, Amanda (Blake) Avery, Amber (Andrew) Ballow, Joshua (Amanda) and Ben; great-grandchildren Bailey, Bristol, Madison, Matthew, Brinley, Sebastian, and Tanner; step-grandchildren Sean (Jessica) MacBeth, Lindsey (Greg) Wallace, and Brittany (Francisco) Jimenez; step-great-grandchildren Cameron, Jaiden, Landon, Victoria, and Payton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hillard and Maxie Tackett, brothers Darvin, Marvin, Henry and Earl; sister Juanita, husband Carl Reo, son Randy and daughter-in-law Candy Johnson.

A funeral service will be held 10 am Monday, January 10, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals, followed by burial at the family plots in Knollwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4-8 pm Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti).
