Marlene M. Britton

Age 92, passed away Friday, May 10, 2024. She was born August 13, 1931 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Delbert and Arline Moffett.

She graduated with the 100th class of Ypsilanti High School in 1949. Marlene married Harold Britton on June 28, 1953 and they were married for 69 years before his death in 2023. She received a Bachelor of Education degree in 1953 and her Masters degree from Eastern Michigan University in 1972. Marlene went on to teach 4th grade at Erickson Elementary in Ypsilanti for 25 years. Marlene and Harold loved their travels to Antarctica, Europe, Asia and all 50 states as well as spending many years wintering in Arizona after their retirement.

Marlene enjoyed reading, playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Ladies Literary Club, PEO chapter DL, The Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority and Red Hats.

Marlene is survived by her children; Charlene Britton, Donald (Lynne) Britton both of Ypsilanti, Ronald (Linda) Britton of Naples, FL and Sharon (Ron) Adam of Metamora; six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Britton, parents and brother Robert Moffett.

A visitation will be held at Stark Funeral Professionals, Tuesday, May 14, 2024 from 11 am to 1pm with a funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
