Malcolm Jerome Pillar, age 68, passed away peacefully, at home on Thursday November 24, 2022. Born October 10, 1954, in Sheffield, AL to Willie J. Pillar, who proceeded him in death. He attended school in Sheffield, AL and spent some time living in Memphis, TN, where he met the love of his life.

Jerome moved to Ypsilanti, MI in 1980. He married Luvenia Maxwell in 1983. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 44 years, Luvenia Pillar, four children, Aria (K) of Killen, AL, Joshua Maxwell, Coronda (Temidayo) Shodipo and Nitoino (Ananda) Maxwell, all of Ypsilanti, MI; seven siblings, Margaret Napier, Janis (James) Williams, William (Linda) Napier, Charles (Lois) Napier, Annie (Sheffield) Young, Andrea Pillar and Dexter Pillar, all of Ypsilanti, MI. He leaves to carry on his legacy 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Jerome spent his life enjoying family. He was a hardworking man, a provider, that loved to cook for everyone and always had a helping hand to lend to those in need. He was passionate about cars and loved to work on them. In addition, he was an outdoorsman. He loved fishing and hunting, often making it a family outing.

Jerome was survived by a special niece, Vickie Napier, a special nephew, Herman Maxwell, a true friend, Raymond Allen of Florence, AL, and a host of other relatives that loved him dearly.

A graveside burial will take place 11 am Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton Township, MI. The family will receive friends 4-7 pm Friday, December 2, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals in Ypsilanti, MI.
