Age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home with family by her side. She was born March 24, 1940 in Roanoke, VA, the daughter of Carl and Clara (Burnette) Gillespie.

Lucy wed Charles D. Butler Sr. June 17, 1961 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and he preceded her in death. She retired from Ypsilanti Public Schools.

Lucy enjoyed bowling and going to the casino. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.

Lucy is survived by her significant other of over 20 years, Robert Holbrook, her children Julie (Randy) Goble, Laurie (James) Gendron and Charles (Sara) Butler; grandchildren Mark Kimlin, Kevin (Amanda) Kimlin, Kayla (Karl) Dailey, Marissa (Stratton) McCord, Katie (Cameron) Parker, Anthony Gendron, Connor Gendron, Charles D. Butler III, Hannah Butler, Robert Puhr and Dominick Puhr; great-grandchildren Paislee Dailey, Korbin Dailey, Kevin Kimlin Jr., Maddex Kimlin, Carter McCord, Spencer McCord and Natalie Parker; and nephews James (Dawn) Gillespie, Vaughan (Peggy) Gillespie and Charles Dunbar.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Carl Gillespie and sister Roseanne Dunbar.

A memorial service will be held 4 pm Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Zack San Miguel and Russ Asher officiating. The family will receive friends 1:30-4 pm.
