Lillian B. Ward, age 99.6 years old, passed from this life into our Lord Jesus Christ's loving arms on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Lilian was born in Clio, Kentucky, to her parents, Fannie (Hickey) and Charlie Hamlin. She was the second of seven children: Clyde, Lloyd (Stillborn), Kenneth, Paul, Euvonna, Athena and Everet Gene. Her family preceded her in death.

Her family lived in the oil fields of Kentucky until they moved to a farm in Corbin, Kentucky where she lived until she graduated from High School. She left home with her oldest brother, Clyde, and moved to Ohio where she met and became a lifelong friend of Lilly Long.

She and Lilly went on blind dates together where she met and eventually married Ray Ward in 1948.

Her and Ray moved to Detroit, Michigan where she worked at the Square D Co. and Ray worked at Chrysler Automotive Co.

In 1951 their only child, Richard was born. When Richard was 10 years old, they moved from Detroit to Ypsilanti where she became employed at Montgomery Ward and Ray at Fisher Body Plant of Willow Run. They both retired in the 1980s.

Ray, Lillian and Richard were members of Calvary Baptist Church of Ypsilanti.

In 1969 their son Richard married (Their daughter in Love) Eva Jo Short.

In 1971 Richard was drafted into the US Army where he served in Schweinfurt, Germany and state side for a total of three years. During his deployment, Eva Jo lived with Lillian and Ray where they became Mom, Dad and Daughter.

Lillian lost her beloved husband, Ray in 2010 after 62 years of marriage.

In 2014 she became a resident of Fairfax Manor; upon its closing she transferred to Mission Point Health Care Center where she thrived and lived until her Homegoing, June 10, 2024.

A private burial will take place at Washtenong Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. Those in attendance will be son Richard, Daughter Eva Jo (Short) Ward and James I. Short, Jr. Officiating is Pastor Jim Newcomer.

A memorial service is planned for 11 am Friday, August 9, 2024. This will take place at Calvary Baptist Church of Ypsilanti and will be officiated by Pastor Jim Newcomer.
