The Life & Legacy of Dr. Levon R. Yuille

Reverend Doctor Levon Ronald Yuille was born on April 27, 1940, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to Luetta G. Yuille (Hill) and Alexander Yuille. He was the second of three children and spent his early years in Atlantic City before his family relocated to Chicago, Illinois. As a young boy, Levon was known for his playful spirit and sense of humor, often finding himself in trouble for childhood mischief. He completed his secondary education at Chicago Edward Tilden Technical School and later dedicated many years of faithful service to the United States Postal Service, where he also served as an EEO Officer.

At the age of thirteen, Levon accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and devotion. He developed a deep love for studying God's Word, often spending countless hours reading and researching Scripture, cultivating the spiritual foundation that would guide his life and ministry.

After relocating to Ypsilanti, Michigan to support his family, Levon would go on to establish a ministry originally known as the New Testament Bible Church of True Holiness, later renamed The Bible Church. Following his retirement from the Postal Service, he devoted himself fully to pastoral ministry, leading with wisdom, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to truth. His calling extended far beyond the pulpit, as he boldly proclaimed the Gospel and stood firmly for faith, justice, and the spiritual growth of his community.

A lifelong scholar and passionate advocate, Reverend Yuille later received an honorary doctoral degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His voice reached many through his Christian radio talk show, Joshua Trail, where he spoke courageously on matters of faith, life, and the Christian walk. He also served as National Director of the National Black Pro-Life Congress and as former Chairman of the Michigan Black Republican Council of Southern Michigan. Never one to retreat from difficult battles, he courageously stood in the gap for the unborn, even enduring imprisonment in defense of the unborn standing in his convictions.

Beyond his public ministry, Reverend Yuille had a deep love for children and families affectionately known as "Pops". He was known for organizing long bicycle rides throughout the Oakbrook community and surrounding neighborhoods, ensuring children were safely transported to and from school and activities. He was a strong voice against drugs and believed every child deserved hope, opportunity, and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

On April 5, 1975, he married the love of his life, Sally Yuille, whom he affectionately called "baby cakes." Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, faith, and partnership. When asked if they would reach their 50th anniversary, he responded without hesitation, "Absolutely that is my girl." Sally faithfully stood by his side, covering him in prayer and interceding for him daily until his final day. Their love is one that will endure through all space and time. He and Sally faithfully prayed over their family each day, laying them before the throne of grace with steadfast love and devotion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Luetta G. Hill and Alexander Yuille; his cherished aunt, Carrie Lovett; his brother, Robert G. Hill; and his sister, Sharon Dee Yuille.

He is survived by his loving wife and First Lady, Sally Yuille; his three brothers, Alexander (Agnes) Yuille, Barry (Angela) Yuille, and Bruce (Suzette) Yuille; and his sister, Debbie Yuille. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Barbara Hill, wife of the late Robert G. Hill; his children, Charlene (Larry) Curry, Hope Williams, Pamela (Joseph) Johnson, Aaron Wilson, Dione (Jake) Williams, LaVonne Maxwell, Sarah (Travis) Williams, and Esther Miller; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and an abundant host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Reverend Doctor Levon R. Yuille transitioned to his eternal home. A devoted servant of God, faithful pastor, and loving shepherd, he lived a life marked by courage, conviction, and compassion. He fought the good fight in every arena and inspired countless lives through his wisdom, leadership, and unconditional love for the Lord.

His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, the truths he boldly proclaimed, and the lives forever changed through his ministry. He exemplified the heart of a servant, always caring for his flock and faithfully tending the pasture God entrusted to him.
