Leevonia "Woods" Markham, age 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 18, 2022, at home under the care of a Heart that Cares, Arbor Hospice. She was born October 17, 1927, in Tuscaloosa, AL, to Sam Jack Woods and Ethel Lee "Collier" Woods, she was the second oldest of seven children. She graduated from Ypsilanti High School. She married James Lee Markham in November 1947, from this union three children were born, Barbara "Markham" Campbell, Linder Markham and Carmen "Markham" Moore. She worked in dietetics at the University of Michigan for several years, before assisting her husband with operating C & J Body Shop in Ann Arbor, Michigan for over 38 years. After the shop closed, she worked at Gelman Science until she retired. In 1964 she was part of the founding members of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Ypsilanti, where she was a Deaconess, sung in the choir, was part of the mother's board, usher board and the kitchen committee until 2019, when her health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Sam, Fred and John Woods; her sisters Sara Porter, and Lois Cook; her husband of over 57 years, her daughter Linder Markham and granddaughter Lorna Campbell.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sister Earlie Woods, daughters Barbara Campbell and Carmen Moore; son Gary Fagin, five grandchildren Inga and Jerry Campbell, Stacey, Bryanna, and Bryan Moore; her great-grandchildren Sierra and Ronaldo Campbell; her spiritual children Pearl Dudley, Floyd Lipsey, Patricia Austin Lockard and Rhonda Walker; and her spiritual brother Cecil Lockard, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and several grand and great-grand dogs.

Family Hour will be Friday, November 25 from 4-6 pm at Stark Funeral Professionals at 101 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26 at 12 pm at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at 1030 Midway Blvd., Ypsilanti, 49198. Visitation will begin at 11 am. Rev. Rodger Hill, Pastor. Interment will be at United Memorial Gardens, Plymouth.
