On Tuesday, December 20, 2022, Lee Roy Bailey, a beloved father of four, passed away. He was 87 years old. He was born to Isaac and Annie Mae Bailey in Tuskegee, Alabama January 18, 1935, and he was raised by his mother and step-father William James Robinson Sr. He married Barbara Jean Montgomery in 1956.

Lee began his career in 1955 as a waiter at the prestigious Detroit Athletic Club. Lee had a strong work ethic and was a faithful and committed employee. He loved his job and worked there for over forty years, retiring from the Detroit Athletic Club in 1995.

Lee, who was affectionately called "Sweet Lee" by his family and friends, was an observer of people and a great listener. Early on, Lee loved to shoot pool with his brothers-in-law, and he would hang out with them at the neighborhood pool hall. Lee enjoyed playing thought-provoking strategy games. He was an avid chess player and would play chess for hours with his good friend Arthur. He also enjoyed a challenging game of dominoes and loved to play with his daughter and his friend Danny.

In 2006 Lee accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, was baptized in December and became a member Open Door Bible Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Ananias H. Holland. Lee was a steadfast member of this church. Feeding on the Word of God, attending Worship Services, Prayer meeting, Bible Study and Men's Bible Study. Joining in fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ was the highlight of Lee's life. He loved showing up at Fellowship dinners with a pot of his homecooked collard greens.

Celebrating Lee's life and cherishing his memories are four children: Regina Glenn of Detroit, MI; Linda (Thomas) McCormick of Ann Arbor, MI; Christian McKinney of Las Vegas, NV; and Antwan Samuel of East Point, MI; one brother, William J. Robinson Jr. (Phyllis), of Wayne MI; one uncle, Fred Allen (Shirley), of Southfield, Michigan; Grandchildren: Marcel Clark, Michelle Reed, Bradley McCormick, Antwan Samuel Jr., Leah Holmes, Yasmin Samuel, and Tayshawn Samuel; Great-Grandchildren: Gregory Strother, Giovanna Strother, King Reed, Jeremyah Reed, and KaTrina Reed; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, his Open Door Bible Fellowship Church Family and special friends.

Lee was preceded in death by his siblings: Lorraine Braxton, Rosemary Robinson, Nadine Marie Robinson-Moore; his parents: William and Annie Mae Robinson as well as Isaac Bailey.
