Acklin, Laura Jean (Meadows)

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 39, made her transition Thursday, June 16, 2022 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township, MI. She was born October 20, 1982 in Ypsilanti, MI, the daughter of Gary Meadows and Pamela Osborn.

Laura worked as a manager at OJ's Beauty Supply in Ypsilanti, MI. On June 27, 2015 she married John Acklin and he survives. Laura enjoyed making people feel welcome and happy. She practiced The Golden Rule daily. She loved children, her dogs and cats and decorating. She liked to watch and listen to waves at the beach.

Laura is survived by her husband John Acklin, son Donovan Gary Acklin, mother Pamela Heater, sister Kristen (Glen) Davidson, brother Brandon Meadows, brother-in-law Eugene Acklin, nieces Moriya, Alyssa and Joylyn; nephews Myles, Noah and Bentley; and many other loving aunts, uncles, grandparents, step-siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Gary Meadows, grandmother Opal Mink, grandfather Smitty Burnette, step-father Robert Heater, father-in-law Jeffrey Acklin and cousin Deshaun Acklin.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Friday, June 24, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals in Ypsilanti, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-8 pm Thursday, June 23, 2022. Laura will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, MI.
