Pitzer, Kenneth Calvin

Age 81, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at his home in Deerfield Township, MI. He was born on October 7, 1941 in Moatsville, WV, the son of George and Josie Pitzer.

Ken enjoyed camping, hunting and spending time with family in his free time. He was an avid University of Michigan football fan and could often be found wearing a U-M sweatshirt. He worked at General Motors for 33 years until his retirement in 2001.

Ken married Una (Harlan) Pitzer in 1966 in Belington, WV and she survives.

In addition to his loving wife, Ken is survived by his children, Michael (Tammy) Pitzer of Fort Gratiot, MI, and Joyce (Randy) Smith of Milan, MI; grandchildren, Anthony (April) Smith of Richmond, VA, Lauren (Charlie) Adams of Chicago, IL, Josh Kirchoff of Belleville, MI, Shyla Pitzer (Fiancé, Jordan Markey) of Belleville, MI, Delaney Riley (Fiancé, Owen Jones); great-grandchildren Everley and Easton Markey; and his many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Sheila Ann Pitzer, parents George and Josie Pitzer; brothers, Douglas, Bob, Jim, Dennis, and Harold Pitzer; sisters, Geraldine Brown, Betty Marsh, Kathleen Welch, Louis James, and Alice Moats.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 10 am. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-8 pm Monday, January 16, 2023. Ken will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton Township, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan .
