Julia "Judy" Ellyn Metty, age 81, of Belleville, Michigan, passed away on July 15, 2026, at Trinity Health Livonia Hospital. She was born on October 10, 1944, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, to John and Julia (Scheffler) Wright. She married Douglas C. Metty on December 27, 1963 in Ann Arbor, and he preceded her in death.

Judy was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing, crafting, and creating handmade treasures for those she loved. She formed close relationships with many young people over the years, becoming an honorary grandmother to several who remained an important part of her life.

Judy is survived by her daughter, Julie (Brian) Powell; her grandchildren, Ian (Benjamin) and Bria Powell; several "grandchildren" she gained along the way; her dog, Timber; and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, Douglas Metty; her parents, John and Julia Wright; and her sisters, Anna May Dunkley, Betty Hughes, and Joan DePlanty.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Judy's life will be held at a later date.
