Hewitt, Juanita (Sykes)

Age 87, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023 in Milan, MI at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 24, 1935 in Port Royal, TN, the daughter of Thomas and Hattie (Cox) Sykes.

Juanita enjoyed working on puzzles, creating ceramics and playing Bunco. She loved gardening, working in the yard and cleaning. She liked going out to eat and treasured time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid church-goer.

Juanita is survived by her children Donald (Patricia), David and Anita (Jerry); grandchildren Stephanie, Joseph, Jeremy and Jessy; and great-grandson Chase Dillion.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold (d. 2013), her parents and siblings Alvin Sykes, Charles Sykes and Irma Bagwell.

A funeral service will be held 3 pm Saturday, January 21, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals, Ypsilanti with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm. Reverend Phil Grimmette will officiate. Juanita will be laid to rest at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton Township, MI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice (2366 Oak Valley Dr. Ann Arbor, MI 48103) or Immanuel Baptist Church .
