Sanchez, Joyce Ann

Age 71, Joyce went home to be with the Lord Friday, November 17, 2023. She was born February 9, 1952 in Martin, KY, the daughter of Estill and Olive (Nunemaker) Hughes.

Joyce worked as a dietary technician for Prospect Foods for 20 years. She was a member of Ridge Road Church of Christ. In her free time, Joyce enjoyed traveling, tennis and attending family reunions. She also liked playing basketball with her son and fellowship with the church ladies.

Joyce is survived by her husband Juan (John) Sanchez, son Fredy Avila (Roberta Charlie), daughter Lic Elizabeth Pecina (Martin Salas), brothers Ralf Hughes (Wilma) and Don Hughes (Rose); sisters Betty Rudy and Patsy Becerra; brothers-in-law Carlos Sanchez (Maria Angelita), Javier Sanchez (Feliciana) and Lino Sanchez (Irma); sisters-in-law Rosa Icela Sanchez (Lorenzo Castro), Catalina Hooker (Daniel) and Mireya Sanchez-Condash (George). She was blessed with an abundance of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Estill and Olive Hughes; siblings Victor Hughes, Fred Hughes, Bill Hughes, Loretta Roach, Dorthy Hughes, Jeanetta Meade, Alma Gay and Dan Hughes; father-in-law Jesus Sanchez, mother-in-law Elvia Sanchez, brother-in-law Jesus Sanchez Perez and sister-in-law Georgia Sanchez.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at Ridge Road Church of Christ (1770 Ridge Road, Superior Township). Pastor Leonard White will officiate. The family will receive friends 2-8 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti).
