Joseph Lee Yunkman passed to his eternal rest on Friday, August 25, 2023 in Ann Arbor, MI. Born on October 29, 1956 in Monroe, Michigan to Frank D. Yunkman and Irene Bunton Yunkman Villeneuve.

On March 30, 1985 Joseph married the love of his life, Dianne Evalyn Wiseman in Ann Arbor, MI. Together they served their church community and established a strong and lasting faith and trust in God - in all circumstances.

Joe's family owned and operated the Willis Market (currently Bone Heads BBQ), in Willis, Michigan from 1954 to 1972. He helped his grandparents with farming duties many mornings before school started.

Joseph graduated from Ypsilanti Lincoln Consolidated H.S. in 1974 where he participated in Band, Symphony Orchestra, Choir, and multiple school plays. Joe continued his love of music as part of The Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church Praise Team. He had the natural gift of enhancing the worship experience, while allowing all members of the team, and God, to shine through.

Joe owned a lawn care business when he was younger. Even after giving it up, he still liked helping his family and friends. If he found out they were sick, he would take his rider and cut their lawns, and take over food (he loved to cook), and offer to help regardless of his personal health, expecting nothing in return. As a videographer for University of Michigan fine arts programs, and Washtenaw County, he enjoyed many events with renowned artists and musicians. His love of music and photography was shared with all he came in contact with.

Joseph was actively involved in the education and raising of several of his grandchildren. He cherished them as his own. Always encouraging them and attending as many school and family events as possible. His family, his church family, and his neighbors, and friends, where an important, and cherished part, of his daily life. He was famous for saying, "Have a blessed day," to all he came in contact with.

Joseph is survived by his siblings, Jade (Stephen) Meyer; James F. Yunkman; Dr. Mark Villeneuve; Thomas (Gaynor) Villeneuve; Patrick Villeneuve; Julieanne Villeneuve; Sister-in-Laws, Michelle Assed; Marian Wiseman; and Joanne Goszczycki.

Special recognition to Jim Harless and Edgar Brown. Lifelong friends who became his brothers.

Step-children, Kristyn (Jim) Schuh; Dave Karr; Erin (Joe) Karr Kennedy; and Bill Karr.

Grandchildren, Lyndsey (Adam Jackson) Chisholm, Darian Hall-Karr, Jesse Karr, Amber Karr, Maggie Schuh, David Schuh, Johanna Schuh. Bella Hoag, and Evelyn Jackson.

Nieces/Nephews, James E. Yunkman and Cheyenne; Jennifer (James) Collier and Eleana and Everleigh; Stephanie (Ian) Skacan and Radek; Christina Villeneuve, Alexandria Villeneuve, Jon (Lauren) Villeneuve and Matthew; Katherine Villeneuve; Rachel Wiseman, and Greg Goszczycki. Several great-nieces/nephews, and many beloved cousins, and lifelong friends who became family.

Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Dianne Yunkman. Parents, Frank Yunkman and Irene & George Villeneuve, Jr; maternal grandparents, J. Lee and Flora (Schlacht) Bunton; paternal grandparents, Joseph F. and Eva (Chapman-Boatwright) Yunkman; brother, Christopher Villeneuve, and brother-in-law Eugene Goszczycki.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 3-8 pm and Thursday, August 31, 2023 from 2-8pm at Stark Funeral Professionals, 101 S. Washington St. Ypsilanti. The Funeral Service will be 11 am Friday, September 1, 2023 with visitation beginning at 10 am at Ann Arbor Christian Reformed Church, 1717 Broadway St. Ann Arbor.
