Joseph passed away suddenly after contracting Covid at the age of 71.

Born in Gadsden, Alabama his family moved to Michigan where he was raised from the age of 3.

He attended Lincoln Consolidated High School, Ypsilanti, when he decided to enlist in the United States Armed Forces, in which he was sent to Vietnam and was wounded in combat 1971, he received a Purple Heart/ Vietnam Service Medal with Four Bronze Service Stars.

In 1978 He met the Love of his life Rachel Chie and they married that October. They had 3 Children: Christopher, Jason, and Melissa.

Joe is Survived by his Wife Rachel Chie Garrett, his Son Christopher (Kayla) Garrett and Daughter Melissa Garrett Taylor,  also his Grandchildren Jay, Caitlyn, Jacob, Lucas Garrett, Jason Garrett Jr., Gabriella Taylor and Shane Taylor.

Also Survived by His Siblings: Linda Gail (John) Richardson, Steven Doyle (Karen) Garrett, Deborah Garrett Lujon, and Karen Garrett Bertoia. His Sister-in-Law Rebecca Chie Libstorff. Many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

He was preceded in Death by His Son Jason Albert Garrett, His Parents: Joseph and Vernese Garrett, His Sister Trella Ann Garrett Ferris, His Father and Mother-in-Law: Albert and Judith Chie and a nephew Derrick Marshall.

He was a Man that Loved his Family Especially His wife and Children, his Country and His Lord and Savior.

He is Gone but not Forgotten and Loved by so many.

Due to Covid there will be no Service at this time but a Future Memorial Service will be Given in His Honor.
