Joseph George Biroscak, at age 83, peacefully passed away on March 1, 2023 after a courageous struggle with dementia.

Born on February 18, 1940 in Arcadia, Pennsylvania to Slovak immigrants (Vincent & Mary Biroscak), after high school graduation Joe enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably including a deployment to Korea. He was one of 14 children and is survived by his youngest sibling (Vincent Jr.).

Upon completion of his military service he returned home to his parents residing in Michigan. Joe began working as a Field Service Engineer installing and servicing blueprint equipment. There in Detroit, Michigan he met the love of his life, Elsie. They were married on February 19, 1972 and were blessed with two children (Dana & Brian). He is also survived by two grandchildren (Jack & Sofie).

In late 1976, Joe and his family relocated to Harbor Beach, Michigan, where they purchased a local hardware store. They operated Biroscak Hardware as a family—always open on time, seven days a week—serving the needs of the community for 25 years until retirement. He is remembered as a dedicated member of Our Lady of Lake Huron parish and loving husband and father.

In the book Old-Fashioned Hardware Stores , author Walter H. Olson wrote: "If you hang around old hardware stores on Saturday mornings, you can watch fathers teaching their children the mysteries of the hardware inventory." Joe's children were fortunate to learn the hardware business working alongside their father (and mother) at the store and while building their dream log cabin family home on Lake Huron, always grateful for all they learned from him. Joe never let them down and will be remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father and friend. May he rest in peace.

No memorial service will be held at this time and the family requests no donations or flowers be sent. There will be a private celebration of life at a future date.
