Rose, Johnny Lewis

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 76, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 6, 2025. He was born May 10, 1948 in West Prestonsburg, KY, the son of Robert and Evaline (Wallen) Rose. He married Marsha (Saylor) Rose September 10, 1966 at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Ypsilanti.

Johnny was a member of West Wayne Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He loved the Lord and served the church faithfully. He enjoyed playing the guitar and teaching Sunday School. Johnny loved his family. He enjoyed working on cars with his two sons and watching the Detroit Tigers with his daughter. He loved watching westerns, working puzzles and playing cards. He enjoyed travelling and the outdoors, visiting over 45 states with his wife. Johnny worked as a final repairman at General Motors Company for 35 years prior to his retirement in 2004.

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years Marsha (or as he liked to call her "Duckie"), Johnny is survived by his brother David Rose, children John Rose, Kimberly (Bradley) Hunley and Rob (Vickie) Rose; grandchildren Kayleigh (Caine) D'Onofrio, Kendall (Jessica) Hunley, Kallie (Lucas) Hunley, Josey (Cole) Barnett, Kerri (Keith) Shock and Lesa (D.J) Rose; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Bradford, Will, Abigail, Hadley, Dawson, Annie, Ezekiel, Delaney, and Finnegan.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Evaline Rose; and sister Teresa Hurst.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Friday, May 9, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Richard Dunn officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 am. Johnny will be laid to rest at Union-Udell Cemetery, Ypsilanti Township.
