Wooley, Johnnie Ray

Ypsilanti, MI

Age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at St. Joseph Hospital in Superior Township, MI. He was born August 26, 1940 in Alicia, AR, the son of Jesse and Velma (McElfresh) Wooley.

Johnnie enjoyed mentoring youth athletes, serving as coach for both the Ypsilanti Nationals little league team and Huron Braves football team. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf.  Johnnie worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. As a young man, he served 5 ½ years in the Army.

Johnnie married Donna (Witten) Wooley in 1959 in Commerce, OK. They remarried December 3, 2022 in Saline, MI.

In addition to his loving wife, Johnnie is survived by his sons Johnnie (Jennifer) Wooley of Saline, MI, and Keith (Shellie) Wooley of Garden City, MI; grandsons Joseph (Cassie) Wooley and Griffin Wooley, both of Saline, MI; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a future date.
