Age 84, went home to be with the Lord Monday, March 18, 2024 in Pekin, IL. He was born May 29, 1939 in Johnstown, PA, the son of William and Ella (Thiel) Karr.

John worked for the Department of Natural Resources in the State of Michigan. He was a member of St. Mary's, Morris, Knights of Columbus and Right to Life. He spent two years in Ghana as a lay missionary. He enjoyed cross country skiing, hiking, traveling and watching sports on TV. He loved working in his garden and sharing his harvest with others.

John is survived by his loving wife Nobuko Karr, sisters Mary Himlin and Patricia (Orval) Turley; stepson Jerry (Julia) Davin, granddaughters Isabella and Abigail Davin; sister-in-law Diane Karr, nieces Cathy Schmidt, Christine (John) Stout, Connie Steinman, Mary Beth (Walid) Demo, Rebecca Himlin, Carolyn Karr and Laurie Boyd; and nephews Paul (Elizabeth) Voytas, Michael (Michelle) Karr, Robert (Cathy) Himlin, Jonathan Himlin, Jeffery (Shandra) Himlin, Brian Himlin and Kevin Himlin; and many grandnieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joan Voytas, brother William Francis Karr, brothers-in-law Joe Voytas and Robert Himlin, Sr.; niece Carol Voytas and nephew David Himlin.

A funeral mass will be held 12 pm Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church (9425 Whittaker Road, Ypsilanti) with in state at 11 am. John will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery.
