John Alexander Hollingsworth III (75)

Johnny went home to be with the Lord on December 19, 2025. Johnny was born April 7, 1950 to the late John A. Hollingsworth II and Gracie Ann Roberts in Fort Benning, Georgia.

On April 6, 1969, Johnny married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart Brenda Covington. From this union three children were born: Trisa Hollingsworth, Craig Hollingsworth and Douglas Hollingsworth. Johnny also leaves to cherish his memory four grandchildren: Briana Smith, Craig Hollingsworth II, Sheila Hollingsworth and Brianna States; five great-grandchildren: Cyrus Robertson Jr., Tracianna Robertson, Arianna Robertson, Carsyn Hollingsworth and Craig Hollingsworth III.

Johnny was the eldest of five, one sister Doris (Maceo) Gray, Richard Hollingsworth, Steve (Julie Ann) Hollingsworth and Carl Max (Karen) Hollingsworth.

Johnny attended E.E. Smith Senior High School in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he
played football and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2024. Johnny continued his education at East Carolina University on a football scholarship.

Johnny then joined the United States Air Force (six years) his rank was Sergeant. In 2015 Johnny retired from the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center.

Johnny became a member of Strong Tower Ministries where he was an usher and a
participant of the ministry program. He faithfully volunteered his time with the WE ROC, a community organization.

Johnny loved his family and was always there if he ever thought something was wrong or if
he was needed.

Johnny was a very loyal friend to Waldo (Jackie) Webster whom he met during his VA career.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents John Alexander Hollingsworth II and Gracie Ann
Hollingsworth and his brother Carl Max.

Johnny had a warm spirit and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

There is comfort in knowing that he had a personal relationship with the Lord and will be resting in eternal paradise.
