Age 74, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2022 in Superior Township, MI. She was born July 7, 1948 in Stone, KY, the daughter of Hayes and Lizzie (Sullivan) Trout.

Joan married Edgel Ratliff July 15, 1967 in Clintwood, VA and together they enjoyed 43 loving years together prior to his passing. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and decorating wedding cakes. Joan adored Sassy, her 15-year-old poodle with no teeth.

Joan is survived by her children Lisa (Randy) Watts, Allen (Ericka) Ratliff and Edgel Dwayne (Christine) Ratliff; grandchildren Brittany (Christopher) Watts-Allen, Zachary (Nicole) Ratliff, Gabriella Ratliff, Joshua Ratliff and Jordan Ratliff; great-grandchildren Zander, Nolan and McKenna Ratliff with Baby Watts-Allen on the way; siblings Lonzo (Eunice) Trout, Mildred McGlone, Alice Marcum, Etta Carter and Fonso (Shirley) Trout; and step-siblings George Varney, Rita Getchey and David Varney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings Bertha (Trout) Stanley, Flossie Trout, Everette (Bud) Trout; Stephen Trout, Kathleen Brewer, Franklin Trout, Bill Varney, Charles Varney, John B. Varney, Leon Varney and Elmer Varney.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday, August 1, 2022 at First Free Will Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10 am (1244 Holmes Road, Ypsilanti).  Pastor Walker Harris will officiate.   The family will receive friends 2-9 pm Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals (101 S. Washington Street, Ypsilanti).
