Jean Ellen Eberts

Ypsilanti, Michigan

September 21, 1934 – March 17, 2023

Age 88, Jean passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital surrounded by family members. Jean was born in St. Johns, Michigan to Walter P. Brown and Rosalyn Wieber Brown. She lived the first year of her life in Fowler, Michigan where her parents originated. In 1935 she moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan when her father took the job of Manager of the Ypsilanti Farm Bureau. Jean's education included first through eighth grade at St. John the Baptist Catholic School, followed by four years at Ypsilanti High School, from which she graduated in 1953. At YHS she was a member of the Girls Drum and Bugle Corps. After high school, she completed a two-year program at Cleary College in Ypsilanti and used her skills as a legal secretary at various local law offices.

On May 7, 1955, she married Robert T. Eberts at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. They remained lifelong parishioners at St. John. Their marriage lasted 57 years until Bob's passing in 2012. Together they raised six children: Richard (Roxanne) of Cedarville; MI, Robert (Margo) of Whitmore Lake, MI; James (Missy) of Hessel, MI; Janice (Jack) Wiseman of Ypsilanti; Jill Chadwick of Cedarville, MI; and Thomas (Christine) of Saline, MI.

Jean and Bob raised their family on LeForge Road in Superior Township where she remained until 2016. With six children, all graduates of YHS, it was a fun and active household from the late 60s through the 80s. Her final home was St. Joseph Village on the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital campus.

Her habits and hobbies aside from being "Gran" to her many grandchildren, included reading, typing (on a real typewriter), sewing, poker and euchre (with her beloved card club), shopping at Kmart, and occasionally mixing up killer cinnamon rolls; a skill she learned from Grandma Brown.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Rosalyn, husband Bob, and brothers Patrick, Michael, and Charles. She is survived by her six children and a sister, Susan Kavanaugh. In addition, Jean has 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 4-8 pm Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Stark Funeral Professionals. Rosary will be read at 7:30 pm. A funeral mass will be held 11 am Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.

Following her funeral at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, she will be interred in St. John Cemetery beside her husband Bob, and near her parents as well as brothers Pat and Mike.
