Jason Sloan Wilkerson

July 11, 1973- August 10, 2025

Jason Wilkerson, age 52, of Willis, Michigan passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Born on July 11, 1973, in Wayne, Michigan, he was the beloved son of Diane and Reuben "Sloan" Wilkerson.

A 1991 graduate of Lincoln High School, Jason went on to build a life filled with love, family, faith and extraordinary dedication. On May 18, 1996, he married his high school sweetheart, Tammy Wilkerson. Together they built a beautiful family and a life rooted in devotion to each other and to those around them.

In 2002, Jason co-founded Royal West Roofing with his business partner, Tim Caraher Jr. Their partnership spanned more than two decades and earned numerous honors, including multiple Master Contractor Awards, Inner Circle Quality and Pinnacle Council Peak Advantage Awards- recognizing them as one of the top contractors across North and South America. Jason never took these accomplishments for granted, always giving credit to God and the hardworking employees who helped shape the company's success.

Jason had an unmatched love for cars and trucks, rarely leaving them stock. His passion for speed once placed him behind the wheel of the second fastest Ford Lightning in the world. That same adventurous spirit was also found off-roading in his beloved H1 Hummer, where he enjoyed off-roading trips at Drummond Island with the Hummer Club, where he spent his last weekend before coming home early.

A devoted traveler, Jason found joy and inspiration exploring the world, tasting all the local foods, and always in awe of God's handiwork. His "happy place" though was Walt Disney World, where he embraced his inner child and made countless memories with his family and friends.

Jason also lived an active lifestyle- he enjoyed lifting weights, biking, running marathons and even completing Disney's grueling Dopey Challenge, running 48.6 miles over 4 days.

A founding member, treasurer, and deacon of New Life Bible Baptist Church, Jason faithfully and humbly served his church family for 25 years. He was deeply involved in his children's lives and found joy in coaching them through numerous sports. Most recently, he cherished coaching the special teams for Lincoln High School's football team.

Above all, Jason's greatest joy came from being "poppy" and "pop-pop" to his five granddaughters, whom he adored and loved to spoil. He was eagerly awaiting the arrival of two more grandchildren in the coming months.

Jason is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Tammy Wilkerson; his children, Logan (Kimberly) Wilkerson, Tanner (Kaylei) Wilkerson, Hope (Joe) Kellerman, Quinn Wilkerson and Lia Behrman; five cherished granddaughters, Emerson, Makenna, Lorraine, Brooklyn and Evelynn; his parents Sloan and Diane Wilkerson; father-in-law Michael (Liz) Mellinger; sister-in-law Carrie Mellinger; and nieces and nephews Alexis, Jaylin, Tevyn, Jenna and Tiana.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother-in-law.

Visitation will be held at New Life Bible Baptist Church, 1175 S. Grove Road, Ypsilanti, MI:

- Friday, August 15th from 4 PM–8 PM

- Saturday, August 16th from 10 AM–12 PM

- Funeral services will follow on Saturday, August 16th at 12 PM, with Pastor Robert Mack officiating.

The burial will take place immediately afterward at Highland Cemetery.

Jason always lived life boldly, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of faith, family, and fierce devotion. He will be dearly missed and remembered in our hearts forever.
