Cox, Janice "Jan"

Pinckney, MI (formerly of Ypsilanti and Ann Arbor)

Age 83, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in Pinckney, MI. She was born October 9, 1941 in Crites, WV, to Vaughn and Ella (Hager) Cummings. On June 8, 1985, she married Earl Cox in Ann Arbor and he preceded her in death.

Jan was a member of Grace Bible Church in Ann Arbor and also Milan Baptist Church. She worked at Stark Funeral Service for 20 years, retiring in 1999. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include: four daughters, Devonna (Bob Vidito) Jones of Pinckney, Berri (Bob) Wolff of Pinckney, Karen (Ron) Vineyard of Winston-Salem, NC, and Valerie Strozeski of Howell; two sons, James Stewart of Ypsilanti and Mark Stewart of Newberry, MI; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

In addition to her beloved husband of 35 years, Jan was preceded in death by her parents, son Hugh Stewart, grandson Corey Stewart, great-granddaughter Larissa Ann Stewart, one brother, Lloyd Cummings, and two sisters, Betty Adkins and Nancy Napier.

A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Stark Funeral Professionals with visitation beginning at 10 am. Preacher Jim Pittman will officiate. Burial to follow in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Monday, June 16, 2025 at the funeral home.
