Age 75, passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022. He was born April 1, 1947 in Saline, MI, the son of Walter and Mae (Shackett) White.

James retired from American General Insurance Company in 2001. He loved being around people and attending social events; he told great stories and was always a jokester. James enjoyed researching his family genealogy and appreciated a good meal. He lived his life to the fullest every day and always had a positive attitude. James was a loving Papa to many and will be deeply missed.

James is survived by his wife Darla with whom he shared 36 wonderful years, children Leanne (Alex Reynolds) and Richard Smith; grandchildren James Wright, Kayla Grayless, Cory Smith, Nickolas Smith, Richard Smith Jr. and Magnus Smith; great-grandchildren Trinity and Dean; siblings Donna (Ted) Buccini, Judith Braley, Linda White and Edie (Tom) Hagene; and many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jeanette Funchion, Danny White, Walter White and John White.

A funeral service will be held 1 pm Saturday, February 19, 2022 at Stark Funeral Professionals with Pastor Gordon Moore officiating. Visitation will be 11 am until time of service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 4-8 pm Friday, February 18, 2022. James will be laid to rest at Stony Creek Cemetery in Ypsilanti, MI.
